Canon today announced that the company is currently developing the EOS R5 full-frame mirrorless camera, which includes a CMOS sensor, image processing, optical technology, and the most advanced technology accumulated by the company in its long history of camera development. More importantly, Canon plans to release a total of 9 RF lenses during 2020, which are currently under development. Canon will continue to strengthen the EOS R system by adding competitive cameras and lenses to its product lineup.

The EOS R system has a wider lens installation diameter, a shorter back focal length, and a high-speed system for transferring data between the camera and the lens so that the lens design has a greater degree of freedom so that the imaging system can provide higher image quality and higher ease of use.
The new full-frame mirrorless camera currently under development will take full advantage of the EOS R system to achieve high-speed continuous shooting and 8K video recording, and expand the scope of visual expression. In addition, thanks to improved transmission functions, operability, and reliability, it can contribute to a more efficient workflow. These enhancements and more features will help the new camera take the EOS series' concept of "speed, comfort, and high image quality" to a higher level.
Canon EOS R5 is the only 1st next-gen mirrorless camera in the company’s EOS R system. It will include a newly developed CMOS sensor that can achieve advanced features such as high-speed continuous shooting-about 20 frames per second (FPS) Electronic shutter is used, while mechanical shutter can reach about 12 FPS, which is convenient for athletes to shoot on sports events and other fast-moving objects.
